This unique project was developed by pupils, staff and the local community who identified all the relevant features. From this consensual brief feasibility designs were developed and the completed project was a finalist in the LABC National Built in Quality Awards 2007

New East Manchester regeneration boost
Miles Platting is an area which includes parts of Ancoats and Collyhurst on the north eastern edge of Manchester, comprising predominately council housing built in the 60s and 70s. The neighbourhood is part of the wider East Manchester regeneration area, where the Commonwealth Games, New Deal for Communities and other schemes are already bringing millions of pounds of improvements to people’s homes, the environment and facilities. This will make East Manchester a successful and integral part of the city
